On Saturday, January 30, 2016, over 250 students and professionals from around the Bay Area converged in Berkeley to learn and discuss transportation issues at the 2016 Youth for the Environment and Sustainability (YES) Conference. Attendees came from around the Bay Area, with the greatest showing from Sonoma and Contra Costa Counties.

Tom Bates, the Mayor of Berkeley, kicked off the conference with keynote speakers Destiny Ellingberg from Pittsburg High School and Steve Santos of Oakland College Prep Academy. During workshop sessions, almost 50 students presented on their work in their communities and ideas for future class projects as well as group or individual projects.

In addition to the speeches and workshops, attendees received conference goodies, including swag bags, t-shirts, and were entered to win raffle prizes, including gift cards to local bike shops and a laptop.

The YES Conference is a proud Super Bowl 50 Sustainability partner and is sponsored by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission.
